Afghanistan – Rebuilding the Glories of Ariana

Many foreign powers have attempted to subjugate Afghanistan over the centuries but few, if any, have truly been successful. Strategically situated between Central and South Asia, this ancient land of Islam is blessed with a history, culture and untouched natural beauty that is inspiring, challenging and provocative, all at the same time. With the return of safety and stability in Afghanistan this adventure promises to be the first of hopefully many fascinating tours that traverse the length and breadth of the region.

Starting from the capital Kabul we cross the Hindu Kush Mountains into the Bamiyan Valley before continuing to Band-e-Amir National Park which is blessed with several mineral rich lakes. We then make a round trip to Mazar-i-Sharif which historically formed part of the Greater Khorasan region and has its own distinct character. For the final part of our journey we have the option of visiting the former Timurid capital of Herat in the west of Afghanistan or the impressive landscapes around Nangarhar and Kunar in the northeast of the country.
